Istanbul, Turkey (Day 2)
On our second day in Istanbul, we took the tram back up to Old Istanbul where we visited the underground cistern. From there we took the tram back across the Galata Bridge where we got off and took the Tunel Train up to the new part of the city. Once on top we rode the nostalgic trolly to Taksim Square. We then walked back to the tunel train via Istiklal pedestrian street. Our first day in Istanbul began with a walk to the Galata Bridge where we got tram tokens. We rode the tram across the Golden Horn and up into the old city where our first stop was The Grand Bazaar. From there we walked down the hill to the Suleyman the Magnificent Mausoleum and then to the Rustem Pasa Mosque. Continuing on down we went to the Spice Market. We then crossed the Galata Bridge and took the tram back to the ship. After docking in Civitavecchia we took the hour long shuttle bus into Rome. From where the bus let us off we took the metro to the Colosseum stop. From there we explored the Forum and then proceeded to the Victor Emmanuel II Monument. Then it was onto Campo de Fiori, Plaza Navona and The Pantheon, passing many sights and mouments alone the way.
