Mgarr, Gozo, Malta

April 1st  left Valletta at 7:00 AM and proceeded to Gozo the second largest island in Malta. We arrived outside Mgarr, a tender port, at 9:00 AM. Today we toured the island on a ship’s tour. After tendering into the port we boarded a coach and proceeded to Dwejra seashore and the Azure Window. On our way we passed a Palm Sunday processional in the town of  San Lawrenz. The sea coast had large cliffs and various outcroppings which were very impressive. The jewel of the coast is the Azure Window a large arch cut out by the sea. Valletta, Malta

On March 31st we sailed into Grand Harbor in Malta. This is truly a spectacular entrance to the city of Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We were docked and ready to go ashore by 10:00 AM. Since the main street in Valletta is some 200 plus steps above the pier, we took a shuttle to the center of town. We left the shuttle and crossed the street to view the Upper Barracca Gardens. We entered the Grand Harbor in Valletta in bright sunlight. After docking we took a public bus up to the main gate and then proceeded to walk Republic Street and ventured into the Co-Cathedral of St. John. We were up early to view the sail in to the harbor of Valetta.
