We docked in the west harbor of the port of Alexandria. We were the second cruise ship in port since the revolt against Mubarak’s government. The mood was upbeat and people were glad to see us. Today we toured three sites in Alexandria; the Qait Bay Citadel, Roman Amphitheater and Bibliotheca Alexandria. The Qait Bay is situated on the same spot as the Faros Lighthouse, one of the seven wonders of the Ancient world. The amphitheater was a reminder of the far reaches of the Roman Empire and was decorated with european marble. Our last stop was the bibliotheca, which is the second largest in the world. This ultra modern building houses the antiquities found in Alexandria and the harbor.
