On February 20, 2012 we reached New Zealand and docked in downtown Auckland, the city of sails. From the ship we had a great view of the city including the Ferry Terminal the hub of harbor activity and the Sky Tower. We ventured into the countryside and passed many sheep farms and cattle ranches on our way to Maori Bay, home to large Gannet Colony. After viewing the surfers and scenery of the bay and the colony we traveled to a local farm called Haumoana. Here we had lunch, and tour the farm with its herds of Fallow Deer and Sheep. We watched a shearing of the sheep and saw the sheep dog in action herding the sheep.
We left our berth at 6:00pm accompanied by many sailboats and racing yachts, giving us a grand send off.
