Castelgandolfo & Roman Catacombs, Italy

From the port of, Civitavecchia, we ventured into the countryside to visit the catacombs outside of Rome. From there we went to Castelgandolfo, summer residence of the Pope. After docking in Livorno, Italy, we went into the Tuscan countryside to the small hill town of Lari. Here we toured the old Renaissance town with it’s predominate castle. Judy visited a handmade pasta factory while Bob explored the town. Monte Carlo, Monaco

Today we had to tender since the pier was full. We arrived on shore and proceeded to walk up some stairs and then took an elevator to the Palace up on the top of The Rock. Once there we saw the changing of the guard, the palace and the Cathedral where Princess Grace and Prince Reiner were in tombed. Avignon, France

We docked in Marseille, France and decided to tour Avignon. We began our day by going to the town of Chateau Neuf to a winery. This is the famous wine producing region of France known for Chatauneuf du Pape wine. From there we traveled to Avignon where from 1305 to 1378  seven Popes resided. We saw the old walled city and the Popes’ Palace.
