San Marino

We docked in the port of Ravenna, Italy, but our tour took us to the Republic of San Marino. San Marino is the world’s oldest surviving republic situated in the inland part of and totally surrounded by Italy. The republic is located  on the tops of Mt. Titano, where we went and Mt. Feretrio. Our bus let us off at the base of the town of San Marino. Venice, Italy (Day 2)

On our second day in Venice we decided to visit the lagoon islands of Murano (noted for glass blowing), Burano (noted for lace) and Torcello with Venice’s oldest cathedral. Our trip began by taking Vaporetto from La Roma down the Grand Canal and then taking the Misacordia canal into the lagoon to Murano. In Murano we strolled up the main canal to the town square with it’s glass sculpture. After Murano we took a 40 minute Vaporetto ride to Burano. Venice, Italy (Day 1)

At 6:15 AM we started our sail in to Venice. As the sun rose, we started to see the outline of the city as we sailed up the Giudecca Canal to our berth in the Port of Venice. After docking at 8:15 AM our day started with an orientation boat ride which included views of St. Marks Square from the water. After our tour we walked out the pier to the people mover (Tram) which took us to Le Roma Vaporetto station (Water taxi). Here we took a Vaporetto down the Grand Canal ending at St. Marks Square. Kotor, Montenegro

Kotor is located at the end of several connecting bays that resemble a fiord. Here we docked right in the town in front of the walled city. Our tour took us up and over the Lovcen Serpentine Hills. We stopped at switchback 25 for some spectacular views of the bay and Adriatic Sea. We proceeded up to the town of Njegusi, where we had a snack of locally smoked ham and cheese. From there we went back to the coast for a panoramic view of Budva. After returning to Kotor, we explored the walled city. Siracusa (Sicily), Italy

We docked in Siracusa’s old town of Ortigia. We took a tour out to the Neapolis Archaeological Park. Here we viewed the roman amphitheater, the greek theater and the Latomia die Paradiso quarry, from which the other landmarks were built. Lipari, Italy

The port of Lapari is one of the 7 inhabited Aeolian Islands off the coast Sicily. On the way in we passed a large pumice quarry on the island. Once at our anchorage, we tendered into Marina Corta, the town’s fishing marina. To get to our tour bus we had to walk up a hill in the town and then down to the hill to Marina Lunga. We boarded our bus and proceeded to tour the island. Our first stop was an over look of the town and then we went to an overlook to view Vulcano Island and snow capped Mt.
