On October 28, 2011, we boarded the Holland America Line’s ms Maasdam in Ft. Lauderdale for a 45 day cruise to The Mediterranean Sea and then returning to Ft. Lauderdale.
Our ports of call included Tortola and St. Maarten in The Caribbean. We then crossed the Atlantic landing in the Canary Islands. Our first island was in Tenerife. We then proceeded to Las Palmas on Gran Canary and then Arrecife on the island of Lanzarote.
Next we went to Casablanca, Morocco in North Africa. After leaving Casablanca, we stopped in Gibraltar after passing through the strait. The we sailed into Spain with our first port being Almeria. Then we had an overnight stop in Barcelona and a stop in Mallorca.
From Spain we traveled to Italy where we went to Ostia Antica, Sorrento, Naples, Palermo, and Cagliari.
On our final leg of our journey we stopped in Tangier, Morocco and Cadiz Spain before going to Portugal where we visited the ports of Portimao, Lisbon and Madeira. After leaving Madeira we stopped at Half Moon Cay, HAL’s private island, before returning to Ft. Lauderdale on December 12, 20011.
