Sunday May 6, 2012 found us anchored in between the islands of Pico and Faial in the Azores. Our port of call was Horta on the island of Faial, where we had to tender into the marina. Arriving on shore we headed toward the South end of the town, along Rua Vasco da Gama to the Fort of Sao Sebastiao. We then headed North past the Church of Nossa Senhora das Angustias, the Fort of Santa Cruz and the Convent of Sao Francisco. We continued along Rua Conselheiro Medeiros passing the Church Matriz do Santissimo Salvador and ending at Praca da Republica. We returned via Avenue 25th of April which runs along the waterfront. We stopped to see the painted seawalls with all the logos of visiting yachts and ships. We passed the Cafe Sport/Scrimshaw Museum before having a delicious Portuguese fish lunch.
