Messina, Sicily, Italy

Messina, Sicily, Italy

After leaving Greece we entered the Strait of Messina, which divides the Italian mainland and Sicily on April 13, 2015.After entering the harbor and passing the Virgin Mary Statue, we docked around noon in the port of Messina on the Sicilian side. We went into the city for some sightseeing and lunch. The old part of the city with the Duomo and the Clock Tower was close to the ship and our first stop on our walk. We then proceeded to explore the streets with its Gothic Architecture and traditional balconies. We returned to the Duomo, passing the Municipal Building, and went inside.

The thumbnail pictures below represent this stop on our trip. Click on any of them to see actual picture.
