On March 7, 2015, the Amsterdam docked in the port of Penang located on a small island in Malaysia. We took a tour of the island which included two interesting stops. The first stop included two different Buddhist temples across the street from each other. First we entered the Thai Buddhist Temple which has the 4th largest reclining Buddha in the world. The outside of this temple had many ornate guard sculptures. Across the street was the Burmese Buddhist temple with a gold adorned Buddha. The second interesting stop was a Batik factory called Craft Batik. Batik is a wax-resistant dying process for fabric and at this factory all the work was done by hand from the original designs to the finished product.
