In Portimao, we had to tender up the river 20 minutes to arrive at the cruise terminal. Once in the terminal, we found a city bus which took us the rest of the way into town. In town we strolled up and down the streets of the old section, looking at the many typical Portuguese tiled buildings, visiting the modern market and the Parca de Republica, on which the Cathedral and the Jesuit College were situated. We then wandered down to the river and went to the Praca Manuel Teixeira Gomes for lunch of grilled sardines, a local favorite, before returning to the ship.
