On Saturday, January 7, 2017, we arrived in Santa Marta, Columbia around 10:00am. Santa Marta is a small Fishing Village and cargo port, situated on the Caribbean sea. After taking a shuttle bus to the port gate, we walked along the beach to the Simon Bolivar statue and then proceeded into the center of town to the main square where there were several government buildings and the Basilica of Santa Marta. All through the town there were lots of colorful buildings, some of which were painted with murals. We left the port at 6:00pm and were treated to a spectacular sunset.
