Beijing China Day 2

On our second day in Beijing, February 23, 2017, we started with a walk through the Forbidden City. The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty from 1420 to 1912. It covers some 180 acres and was built between 1406 to 1420, the complex consists of 980 buildings.  After walking through the complex we then went to Tiananmen Square, which contains the Monument to the People’s Heroes, the Great Hall of the People, the National Museum of China, and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong. Beijing China Day 1

On February 22, 2017,  we docked in Xingang, China, where we left the ship and traveled to Beijing for an overnight stay. The countryside was covered with snow which is rare for this part of China. Our first stop of the day was a jade factory and restaurant, where we had lunch and toured the factory. After lunch it was off to The Great Wall, just outside of Beijing. Here we spent a couple of hours marveling at the world wonder. After visiting the wall we returned to Beijing and our stop for the night, the Sheraton Grand Beijing.
