Tenerife, Canary Islands (Day 2)

On our second day in Tenerife, we walked into town. Our ship was docked only a few hundred yards from the main square “Plaza de Espana”, which was our first stop. We then proceeded up the town and across the river to the “Mercado de Nitra Señora de Africa. Tenerife, Canary Islands (Day 1)

Another 2 days at sea brought us to Tenerife in the Canary Islands. This was one of our overnight stops. On the first day we went to Mt. Teide National Park, where it had snowed just 2 weeks before. The two main attractions here are Mt. Teide and “Los Roques de Garcia” which resembles the surface of the moon. After visiting the park we drove down to a place called Pueblo Chico. This was a miniature village of the important landmarks and buildings of the seven Canary Islands. Lanzarote, Canary Islands

Lanzarote is an island with great contrast of white buildings and black lava fields. Here we toured the wine regions of the island. The grapes are grown in depressions in the lava fields. Tenerife, Canary Islands

In Tenerife, we took a tour to La Laguna ( a UNESCO World heritage site). We toured the main square and the side streets as well as a visit to the cathedral. Upon leaving La Laguna, we stopped at Tocoronte, a wine growing area, where we visited Bodega Alvaro.
