Lima, Peru (Day 2)

We stayed in Lima for two nights. On the night of Day 2 we decided to take in the Magic Water Circuit of Lima. This event takes place in Parque de la Reserva and involves 13 fountains that are illuminated and change colors. At 9:30 PM there is a 20 minute laser light show that combines movement, light, sound and images. Lima Peru (Day 1)

After two days at sea we arrived in the port of Callao, a suburb of Lima in Peru. The port is a typical container port, with a small Peruvian Craft Market when a cruise ship is in port. Since we had visited Lima in 2008, we decided to go to the suburb of Miraflores on the shuttle bus. Miraflores is a modern area built on top of a cliff, with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. Callo (Lima), Peru

We arrived in Lima under dense fog and were late in getting to the pier. We had two days here, so on our first day we took in the highlights of Lima. This included several plazas, the cathedral, the government palace and the San Francisco church. On the second day we boarded a motor launch and toured the Palomino Islands. Salaverry (Trujillo), Peru

Salaverry is the gateway to the ancient pre inca cultures. We went to the Sun & the Moon Temple (pyramids), the Rainbow Temple, and Chan Chan.
