Santa Marta, Colombia

After 3 days at sea we arrived at our 1st port, Santa Marta, Colombia. Santa Marta is the oldest surviving city in Colombia. The old city has Spanish colonial architecture and is surrounded by modern resorts. We left the terminal and walked along the water passing the fishermen that were cleaning the day’s catch and the Statue of Rodrigo de Bastidas, the founder of the city. We left the water and headed in to the old part of the city with its colonial architecture and narrow streets. We visited the cathedral which was on the main square.
