Singapore Day 2

Our second day in Singapore, March 10, 2017, was spent in the Marina Bay area, which includes the Singapore River and Marina Bay. To get to Boat Quay, on the Singapore River we took the metro which  is modern and very easy to use. Once above ground we went along the river towards Marina Bay, where the city’s iconic monument the Merlion over looks the bay. The bay has many attractions situated on its shores like the Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer. Returning along the river walk, we passed  statues depicting life here both past and present. Singapore Day 1

One of our favorite cites, Singapore, was our destination on March 9, 2017. We were docked in a new terminal, Marina Bay Cruise Center, which was not as convenient as where we usually dock, but did have a good view of Singapore’s skyline. On this day we went to the Gardens by the Bay, a nature park spanning 101 hectares (250 acres) of reclaimed land in central Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. The park features very large metal trees called Super Trees, which dominate the landscape and are home to many species of ferns and bromeliads as well as solar panels, water collection...

Our last day in Singapore, March 15, 2016, started out on Arab Street. Located in the Arab quarter, adjacent to the Sultan Mosque, Arab Street is lined with shops and boutiques that sell all kinds of fabrics from all over the World. Just like the other ethnic quarters, the buildings are brightly colored and embellished. We then traveled across town, passed the Raffles Hotel and the War Memorial, to the Marina Bay Sands. We walked through the hotel and walked out the other side to the Gardens by the Bay, a 101 hectare nature park built on reclaimed land next to the Marina reservoir. The...
