On our second day in Venice we decided to visit the lagoon islands of Murano (noted for glass blowing), Burano (noted for lace) and Torcello with Venice’s oldest cathedral. Our trip began by taking Vaporetto from La Roma down the Grand Canal and then taking the Misacordia canal into the lagoon to Murano. In Murano we strolled up the main canal to the town square with it’s glass sculpture. After Murano we took a 40 minute Vaporetto ride to Burano. Since the cathedral in Torcello closed at 1:00 PM, we immediately took the 5 minute ride to Torcello. After viewing the church and the town we had lunch at Osteria al Ponte del Diavolo. Following lunch we returned to Burano and took in the sites before retiring back to St. Marks Square and eventually our ship.
